Primary Job Function

The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Specialized Electives Teacher serves as an instructional leader and mentor during critical developmental and transitional stages for students. This role emphasizes specialized content expertise, hands-on and experiential learning, and developmentally responsive instruction that fosters the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth of every student in alignment with Ohio’s Learning Standards, Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), OTES 2.0 performance standards, and the District’s mission.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to speak, hear, sit, stand, and move around the classroom or outdoor space for extended periods. In active disciplines (PE, Music, Art, STEM/Robotics, Gardening), significant physical movement (demonstrating techniques, lifting tools/instruments, assembling hardware, bending/digging) is required. Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry items over 25 to 50 pounds on occasion.

Working Conditions

This is a fast-paced environment with significant mental and emotional demands. Depending on assignment, the employee may experience exposure to outdoor weather conditions, soil/compost, non-hazardous chemicals/lab materials, or loud environments (gymnasiums, music rooms, robotics labs). Professional collaboration and preparation may extend beyond core instructional hours to meet PLC needs.

Driving Requirement

Occasional driving may be required to various school sites, district events, or off-site competitions/showcases.
