District Overview

Reynoldsburg City Schools (RCS) is a school district recognized throughout the state for its forward-thinking and progressive culture.  The District is comprised of 15 buildings totaling over 1.2M GSF with a student enrollment of ~7,500 students.

 Position Overview

The Maintenance Worker position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, repair, and maintain the district equipment, buildings, and grounds. He/she provides a variety of maintenance services tasks across the district ensuring a safe, comfortable, attractive, and sanitary environment for all students, staff, and visitors. 

 

Essential Functions

The characteristic responsibilities and duties of a Maintenance Worker include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain, Inspect, Adjust, Modify and Perform repairs of all District Buildings and Facilities which include but not limited to General Maintenance and all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Roofing, Masonry, Carpentry, and HVAC Systems
  • Install wiring to and connect high and low power devices and equipment. Replaces ballasts and bulbs
  • Change Oil, filters, belts and perform other preventative maintenance duties
  • Use the Facilities Automated Control System to locate system problems, troubleshoot and take corrective action
  • Replaces flush valves and faucet valve stems; repairs faucets; pulls and sets toilets; snakes drain
  • Performs roof repairs; repairs and installs doors; attaches weather-stripping to doors and frames, hangs bulletin boards, clocks, pictures etc.
  • Perform weekly/monthly/annual inspections of all systems and equipment and maintain the necessary records
  • Maintains an inventory of necessary and regularly used parts. Order replacements as needed and approved by the Director and/or the Manager of Support Services
  • Cleans and maintains one’s worksite, vehicle and tools
  • Work with and monitor outside contractors and vendors to insure proper workmanship and value
  • Uses Computers, phones and other electronic devices to access the internet to check e-mail, voice mail, process work requests and perform searches
  • Loads, unloads, and delivers supplies, parts, and materials
  • Assists in the snow removal of parking lots and sidewalks
  • Assists with the exterior grounds work such as mowing, weeding, trimming, and raking; collecting and disposing of trash, maintaining/cleaning of auxiliary facilities, and lining/preparation of athletic fields
  • Assist the Department as needed. This may include but is not limited to event set up/tear down, moving of furniture or other equipment, general cleaning (i.e. trash removal, sweeping/vacuuming, and re-stocking of supplies)
  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the Facilities Support Service organization. The Director and/or the Manager of Support Services will assign individual personnel to duties as the need arises. It is understood that there are no specific job titles or specialists in the maintenance department. Any maintenance personnel may be assigned any duty.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED desirable
  • Four years of experience in the construction and/or building trades
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Desired

General knowledge of the standard practices, methods, processes, materials, tools and equipment used in maintenance work including carpentry, plumbing, heating and ventilating, and electrical repair; skill in the use of the tools and equipment used in the building maintenance trades. Demonstrate the ability to hand shovel dirt and gravel; ability to climb and work from ladders; ability to perform heavy physical labor; ability to read and work from blue prints and sketches; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationship with school officials, teachers, supervisors, co-workers, students, and the general public.  Proficient with computer usage and Microsoft Windows applications.

 

Physical Requirements

The Maintenance Worker is a physically demanding position.  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, stretching, bending, and operating medium weight equipment. The employee is required to be able to climb ladders and work at elevated heights. The employee may be required and must be able to lift up to 50lbs on a routine basis throughout the day.

 

Terms of Employment

  • Hourly Rate – Per District Classified Wage Schedule
  • Individual must successfully be able to meet the minimum requirements of the Classified Civil Service exam
  • Individual must successfully be able to meet the requirements of a BCI/FBI Background Check
  • Reynoldsburg City Schools is a Tobacco Free District in which the use of tobacco products is strictly prohibited on District property

 

This position is offered through the Educational Services of Central Ohio.

 

 

PLEASE NOTE:  This position is required to provide coverage across multiple building locations.  Location, Days, & Hours may vary based on District needs.
